About

Born in Atlanta, GA, Mackenzie Brown started her dance training at five years old at Footnotes Dance and Acrobatics Studio and later joined “The Vibe Performance Company” as a competitive dancer. After six years of competitive dance, Mackenzie started her formal ballet training at Atlanta Dance Theater under the directorship of Jonnie Kelley and Shelley Grames, where she had the opportunity to be a part of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association. Mackenzie is a recent graduate from Point Park University as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance with a concentration in Jazz.

Mackenzie is strong in various styles including Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, and Partnering. At Point Park, Mackenzie found a deep appreciation for African Dance and has trained and performed with Yamoussa Camara. She continues to expand her knowledge and expertise in other styles.

Throughout the years, Mackenzie has attended multiple summer intensives. She attended The Commercial Dance Intensive under the directorship of Casey Noblett and Cassidy Noblett, as well as the LA Contemporary Dance Company Summer Intensive. Mackenzie has also received multiple scholarships through the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association to attend The National Choreography Project, The Glenda Brown Project, and The South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory.

Mackenzie has a strong passion for working with children. During her summer months, away from Point Park, Mackenzie is a dance instructor at Atlanta Dance Theater, where she has had the opportunity to volunteer for Bashing Boundaries. Bashing Boundaries is an organization that provides a safe environment for children with disabilities, to engage through movement and music. Mackenzie has also worked as a cast member for Enchanted Experiences, a live character entertainment company in Pittsburgh.

My Mission

I support the inherent creativity and individuality of aspiring artists within the communities around me by sharing my knowledge and love for the arts. I demonstrate my passion for artistic beauty by celebrating and appreciating the different styles that make us unique. I learn from others as I grow into my own artistic individual and work to make a difference in the world through dance.

My vision

I envision a world where respect for self and others is front and foremost for all and expressing individuality and creativity through movement is accessible to all communities. I will focus on offering programs that provide an outlet and a safe environment for creative expression. I will raise awareness of the importance of dance, the art of dance, and movement. I will help in spreading the benefits and joy of dance, particularly to children who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to do so. I will strive to give opportunities to establish a sense of community and empowerment through dance. I will create an environment in which children feel comfortable, secure, and free to express themselves through dance.
